This is why you don’t leave $9,000 of hurricane shutters stacked outside your house

A man stole $9,000 in hurricane shutters over two mornings in March, Hollywood police say.

They released surveillance video and stills Wednesday as they asked for the public’s help in finding the thief.

From a couple of different angles, the video shows a man backing his truck, possibly a Chevy S-10, into the driveway of a house in the 1300 block of North 40th Avenue around 8 a.m. March 21.

He helped himself to some of the hurricane shutters outside, then drove off. The next day, around 9:30 a.m., he returned for seconds on shutters.

Both times, the suspect entered the truck through the passenger door. Anyone with information on this shutter stealer may contact Hollywood police at hollywoodpdtips@hollywoodfl.org or 954-967-4411. They can also call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or via the website.
